How To Make A Privacy Policy For Blogger

Posted on February 27, 2008 at 4:25 pm by Mr BBI

With the recent update to the Adsense Terms and Conditions it is now necessary to have a ‘privacy policy’ on any sites or blogs displaying Adsense.

We’ve also added some specific requirements that make it necessary for publishers to post and abide by a transparent privacy policy that users see. According to this policy, publishers must notify their users of the use of cookies and/or web beacons to collect data in the ad serving process

This post is to help you set up a public ‘privacy policy’ on your blog hosted with Blogger that displays Adsense.

This is a really simple process.

First off you need to create the content for your ‘privacy policy’, I’d suggest you do a search on Google for “sample privacy policy” and/or “privacy policy template”. You will find several templates and samples to edit that will fulfil your requirements.

Once you have done this it’s now time to add it to Blogger.

1. Log in to your Blogger account.
2. Select Posts > Published > Oldest.
3. Find the date of your oldest post and copy it.
4. Now select Create.
5. Name your post Privacy Policy, Privacy, or Privacy Statement.
6. Copy your created content into the post.
7. Next click Post Options.
8. Edit the date to make this your oldest post.
9. Now hit Publish Post. Locate and copy your new url as you’ll need it later.
10. Now go to Layout.
11. Select from the sidebar or footer Add A Page Element.
12. In the open window choose Link List.
13. Add a Title - e.g. Info
14. Add your new privacy policy url to New Site URL
15. Add the post name you chose e.g. Privacy Policy, Privacy, or Privacy Statement in the New Site Name
16. Click Add Link then Save Changes
17. Your new widget will appear under Add A Page Element. Move it to the bottom of all the other widgets you have listed.
18. Final step is to click Save.
